For how many days is the Barcelona Card valid?

There are four types of Barcelona Card, which are valid for 3, 4 or 5 days, so there are options available to you depending on the length of your stay. The days always have to be consecutive, and counted as calendar days as opposed to 24 hour periods of your choice. So, for example, if you purchase a 3 day card and use it for the first time on a Tuesday at 3pm, it will expire on the Thursday at 23:59, and not on the Friday at 14:59.

What does the Barcelona Card include?

This Barcelona tourist card comes with an information guide (in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish and Catalan), and this will give you a description of all the discounts that are on offer as well as a list of the museums that will give you free entry with the card.

1. Free Barcelona public transport

Subway, bus, tram…

By buying the Barcelona Card you will be able to travel for free on the metro and buses (except in the night buses, known as Nit Bus) in the centre of Barcelona, plus on the urban lines of the FGC (the Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya), the trams, train to Barcelona Airport and Zone 1 of the RENFE local rail network.

Travel between the airport and Barcelona

By train: Currently there’s only a train station in Terminal T2, so if you have to get to/from Terminal T1 you’ll also need to take the free shuttle bus that links both terminals. The train stops at various stations in Barcelona, with the most central stop being Passeig de Gràcia and Barcelona – Sants.

By bus: Bus Number 46 stops at Terminal T1 and T2. It’s a public bus, so it doesn’t offer the kind of space for your luggage that you’ll find on the dedicated Aerobus. For the same reason, the journey is fairly lengthy as it stops a lot. Its final stop is in the Plaça Espanya, so if you want to get to the heart of the city centre, you’ll then need to catch another bus or the Metro.

** If you decide to buy the Barcelona Card online in advance, you’ll be able to pick it up (you’ll need to show your booking confirmation) in any of the Barcelona Turisme information points situated in Terminal T1 and T2 of the airport.

And what if i’m going to be in Barcelona for 2 days?

If you’re only going to be in Barcelona for two days, and will be visiting museums and other places of interest, we recommend buying the Barcelona Card Express, the benefits of which are very similar to those of the Barcelona Card, but it’s valid for just two days.
