The Barcelona Manga Fair, officially called Manga Barcelona, is a key event within Spain’s broad and thriving manga sector. During the fair, which takes place across various halls of the Fira Barcelona Montjuïc venue, numerous “mangaka” artists, publishers and specialised bookshops, as well as schools and centres offering manga drawing courses, come together.

Manga Barcelona 2026 Programme: Activities and Guest Artists
During the days of Manga Barcelona, a wide variety of activities and events take place, all aimed at ensuring that every manga fan can enjoy those that interest them the most.
Thus, attendees can take part in presentations of editorial releases in the sector, conferences and meetings with manga artists, and even enjoy fascinating exhibitions and masterclasses.
Cosplay: The Japanese Art of Characterisation
For those who don’t yet know what Cosplay is, or aren’t entirely sure, it is the Japanese art of dressing up, embodying, and performing as a character, especially one from a manga comic and/or an anime series.
As expected, Cosplay plays a very prominent role throughout the Barcelona Manga Fair. In addition to the large number of attendees dressed as their favourite manga and/or anime characters, Manga Barcelona also organises a Cosplay parade and several competitions and shows, some of which feature well-known cosplayers.
The range of activities is complemented by the screening of documentaries, short films, and the premiere of an anime film. In addition, the youngest attendees have a space designed exclusively for them, Manga Kids.

For those who choose to take a car or motorcycle to Fira Barcelona Gran Via, you can leave your vehicle in one of the on-street parking spaces.However, if you prefer not to drive around too much looking for street parking (most of which is paid, except on Sundays), or if, when riding a motorcycle, you would rather leave it somewhere a bit more secure, the most convenient option is to park in a nearby private car park.
Origin and Evolution of the Barcelona Manga Fair
Birth and Editions of the Fair: This year, 2026, marks the 32nd edition of the Barcelona Manga Fair. As is often said when a new movie is released… from the creators of the Barcelona Comic Fair came Manga Barcelona.
Ficomic: It was the friends at Ficomic who, in 1995, when very few people truly knew what Manga was and our main exposure to this world was through a few anime series (a term used to refer to Japanese animation) that were beginning to gain popularity in our country, took on the challenge of organising the 1st Barcelona Manga Fair.
Fair Spaces: The chosen venue for this was the Barcelona’s Francia Station, which by its third edition had already become too small, forcing the organisers to move the fair to the La Farga Activity Centre. Since 2012, and due to the growing number of attendees at Manga Barcelona and the event’s importance and consolidation, it has been held at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue.
But… what is Manga?
We assume that those of you who have reached this page know, perhaps even better than us, what Manga is, but just in case there are still some confused or novice readers, we’ll provide a brief definition.
The Manga is the term used in Japan to refer to what we generally know as comics. Nevertheless, both in Spain and other countries, the word Manga is used to refer to comics created in Japan or to those which, even if designed outside Japan or by non-Japanese artists, maintain a visual and narrative style similar to the typical Japanese comic.
