Pride BCN, also known as Gay Pride Barcelona, is the event organised every year in Barcelona to celebrate the International LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) Pride Day and most commonly referred to as Gay Pride Day. During the second half of the month of June, several festive and protest events are organised in the city, although it is always the weekend closest to 30th June, the official day of the celebration, when the most important events take place, including the large demonstration that runs through the streets of Barcelona.

Barcelona has always been considered an open and pioneering city in many aspects and this is surely the reason why, in everything related to the rights and liberties of the Gay and LGBT+ community, it is no exception. A good example of this are some of the events, both protests and festivals, such as the very lively Circuit Festival and Girlie Circuit Festival, which are held throughout the year. Another example of Barcelona as a Gay Friendly city is the popularity, for many years now, of many businesses, among which are shops, bars, clubs, businesses and hotels, directed and/or targeted towards the Gay and LGBT community and that, despite being spread over several neighbourhoods in Barcelona, are mainly concentrated in the well-known area of Gayxample.
If Barcelona is considered a Gay Friendly city, we could say that the coastal town of Sitges, a few kilometres from Barcelona, has been given the honorary title of the number one Gay Friendly city of Catalonia. So, another perfect way to enjoy International LGBT Pride Day is to take part in one of the many activities and events scheduled in Sitges throughout the month of June.
