Horta Festival 2026

Updated Sep 02 2026

Surely, the Festa Major de Horta, the festival of Barcelona’s Horta neighbourhood, is one of those local celebrations that has managed to retain the special charm of times gone by. It also stands out for its excellent programme of cultural and leisure activities and its attention to detail, making it every bit as appealing as some of the city’s better-known and more prestigious festivals.

Everything you need to know about the Festa Major in Barcelona’s Horta neighbourhood

Horta is one of those neighbourhoods where the atmosphere of a bygone era can still be felt. Not so much the neighbourhood life of times gone by, but rather the character of the independent village that was once known as the village of Sant Joan d’Horta, until it became part of Barcelona in 1904. Fortunately, this atmosphere of a former independent village can still be felt during its Festa Major celebrations.
