One of the standout features of CosmoCaixa Barcelona is its building, as it is located in a modernist building designed by Josep Domènech i Estapà. Originally conceived as an asylum, after the renovations carried out in 2004 it now perfectly fits the needs and characteristics of a large science museum.

Each of the permanent spaces at CosmoCaixa Barcelona has its own unique features, which means that, although all are equally interesting, each person will find some more appealing than others. What is clear is that, by the end of the visit, everyone has enjoyed a fun and even entertaining time while learning new things about “a world as fascinating as Science”.
Temporary exhibitions at CosmoCaixa
In addition to the permanent spaces, one of the added attractions of CosmoCaixa Barcelona is the temporary exhibitions that are scheduled, which, as expected, are entirely related to science and present it in an engaging and, at times, even fascinating way.
The Geological Wall
It is a rock weighing over 90 tonnes, with which various experiments can be carried out.
The Flooded Forest
Undoubtedly the museum’s icon, a faithful reproduction of over 1,000 m² of Amazonian forest, home to native plant and animal species from Brazil.
The Hall of Matter
In this permanent space, you can learn about the details of the evolution of matter from its very beginning
3D Planetarium
Recently renovated, the new planetarium allows 3D projections, making the viewing experience even more spectacular.
The Science Square
This is the museum’s open space, transformed into a large square where, thanks to the installation of various modules, visitors can continue to enjoy science.
Flash and Click
A space aimed at children aged 7 to 9, where, thanks to engaging modules, they are encouraged to take an interest in the world of science, which is still largely unknown to them.
Bubble Planetarium
A planetarium designed for children aged 4 to 10, allowing them to take their first steps into the world of astronomy.
¡Toca toca!
One of the children’s favourites, this is a museum space that allows them to explore the animal world and its environment firsthand, with the chance to touch several animal species as well as immerse themselves in their natural habitat.
Weather Station
It is a weather station through which you can see that, by knowing various parameters, it is possible to make a weather forecast.

Bus: Lines 60, 123, and 196 are the closest. Other bus lines, with stops about a 10-minute walk from CosmoCaixa, are 22, 131, H4, V13, V15, and the Barcelona tourist bus.
